Treatment of hyperextension injuries to the PIP JointFrom the Department of Orthopaedics and the Hand Section, Gentofte Hospital, University of Copenhagen, Denmark Correspondence: Dr Niels O.B. Thomsen, Ellebækvej 32, DK-2820 Gentofte, Denmark. A prospective randomized trial of type 1 hyperextension injuries to the PIP joint treated conservatively by an elastic double-finger bandage or an aluminium splint for 2 weeks showed no differences in the clinical outcome after 6 months.
