Irreducible Fracture of the Neck of the Fifth MetacarpalFrom the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Gifu Prefectural Tajimi Hospital, Japan Correspondence: Kentaro Watanabe, MD, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Gifu Prefectural Tajimi Hospital, 5-161 Maehata-cho, Tajimi, Gifu 507, Japan. We report a rare case of fracture of the neck of the fifth metacarpal which required open reduction. The radial and ulnar collateral ligaments entrapped the displaced metacarpal head. This patho-anatomy resembles that of rotational supracondylar fractures of the proximal phalanx.
